In a word search through Biblegateway.com the word thanksgiving is noted forty-one times in the New American Standard Bible.
To list all of the passages in this post would be too lengthy to include in here today, however a few key verses resonated in my heart.
As a leader of a weekly prayer call focused on addressing the things of our nation and my state of Alaska, I frequently refer to many of these passages as we pray and petition for righteousness and justice to prevail in our national, state and local governments.
I am extremely thankful for technology that opens great avenues of communication for people across the nation to come together in prayer, having the opportunity to share issues and address injustices.
Despite the spin and disruptive narratives of political media pundits I frequently start the call with 1 Timothy 2:1-3 (NASB) “First of all, then, I urge that entreaties and prayers, petitions and thanksgivings, be made on behalf of all men, for kings ( President Trump, VP Pence and all elected or appointed) and all who are in authority, so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity.”
There is much that is going on across our nation that defies the righteousness of God’s Word. Lies and confusion have stolen our rights to lead quiet lives in all godliness and dignity. Yet Paul reminds us in Philippians 4:6 “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made know to God.” Regardless of what is going on, God is with us in our personal lives and is at work in our nation. He knows the end from the beginning and there are NO SURPRISES for God! He knows when every sparrow falls to the ground and He knows every step we take and every move we make. He is faithful to protect us, and in every temptation, He provides a way out.
Thanksgiving is not to be relegated to one day a year. Thanksgiving is a state of heart and mind where even the smallest blessing is to be acknowledged! Without the Creator of the Universe, our daddy God, we would not exist! He made us to be family with Him and to share the glory of His creation! He gave each of us unique talents and divine assignments on this earth. He is faithful to open doors no man can close and to make the crooked way straight. He will raise up kings and tear down kingdoms. His Word is true and it never changes. He loves us immeasurably and inhabits our praises. He spins with delight when we praise Him and thank Him! He is our Alpha and our Omega, the beginning and the end and His mercy endures forever. May we “enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise. Give thanks to Him, bless His name.” Psalm 100:4 And, let us “give thanks to the Lord, for He is good: for His lovingkindness is everlasting.” Psalm 118:1
Rest in the Lord knowing that “blessing and glory and wisdom and thanksgiving and honor and power and might, be to our God forever and ever. Amen” Revelation 7:12
May you enjoy Unending Days of Thanksgiving!
