One hundred fifty-one years ago, on May 5th, 1868, General John Logan, national commander of the Grand Army of the Republic, issued General Order No. 11 stating “The 30th of May, 1868, is designated for the purpose of strewing flowers, or otherwise decorating the graves of comrades who died in defense of their country….”
So, on this original date of Memorial Day, May 30, 2019, I would like to honor all who have run to the battle line and engaged in the great fight to preserve the freedom and exceptionalism of the United States of America!
Hundreds of thousands of military and law enforcement men and women have laid down their lives in the line of duty. For that we all owe a great debt of gratitude. Also, to all Veterans and active duty members who are carrying the torch of freedom to the world, I say Thank you! Let freedom ring, and may God’s justice prevail.
In the name of Jesus, I call in God’s ministering angels to surround and protect our Nation, our President, all serving in elected or appointed government offices, every military installation around the world, all U.S. Embassy’s, and our greatly challenged border patrol. God, your word says, in Proverbs 14:34, “Righteousness exalts a nation…” We ask that you teach us Your ways Lord and lead us in the level path of truth, righteousness and justice for all. May we always remember the word of Romans 13:7 “Give to everyone what you owe them: …if respect, then respect: if honor then honor.” Thank you, Lord, for the privilege of being able to honor our fallen brothers and sisters who willingly gave all for this nation.
May God richly bless the United States of America!
Amen and Amen!
Thank you to Billy Ray Cyrus for writing and sharing this poignant song. As the Ark Ministry Team discussed what to share to honor Memorial Day, this song immediately rose up in my heart. Please read the words and enjoy listening to the song. And never forget these words.
